Fishbone Fragmentation

My professional history and education are rooted in fine art figure painting and open air landscape. My weapons of choice are oil on masonite panel or canvas. My technical process seems forever loyal to investigations in contrasting colour relationships, while using a direct, and usually opaque alla prima approach to modelling form. My curiosity has been lured towards story telling through illustration, and the role of the figure in combination with landscape in narrative painting. Children’s books, fantasy and role play fuel explorations in translating childhood imagery as a record of memory. Utopic flashes of personal experiences, such as birthday parties and amusement park experiences are contrasted with disquieting environments affected by human activity. These dream like works highlight an overall amplified urge to entertain our children, their relationship with the natural world, as well as our explicit role in the greater environmental picture.

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
